The card form which this image was taken advertises the tavern as "the place to
meet your friends" and "drink, dine, and dance." The Miller Springs Tavern was
located 2 1/2 miles north of Belton on Moody Road.

The Bigham's came from Bell Buckle, Tennesse in 1851 and helped to settle Tennessee Valley.

 

The opening of the Morgan Place cornerstone, May 1953

The Morgan place, a stately rock home named "Stonewall," had to be moved because
it was located below the taking line. The home was movbed stone by stone to a new
site north of Belton.

The laying of the conerstone for the relocated Morgan home was cause for a gathering
of friends and family. Enjoying the picnic are (from right to left) Ed. Morgan, Edmund
Morgan, Evan Morgan, and Mettie Thomas Normand.
