MEASURING THE AMOUNT OF SUNLIGHT IN AN AREA


Purpose: To gather and interpret data
Season: Spring, Summer, Fall
Materials: Light meter, (If you are doing this experiment, be sure to notify Mr. Owen. He has the light meters.) pencil, paper, and clipboard

Procedure:
  1. Explain how to use a light meter.
  2. Use the light meter to measure light in different locations. If possible, measure the light at different times.
  3. Keep a record of the data. Be sure to write the location of the readings.
  4. Create a graph with this data. Draw conclusions from this data.
  5. Questions: How does the amount of light vary from location to location?
  6. How did the plants differ in areas of low and areas of high light?
