HOW TO COLLECT ANIMAL TRACKS

| Materials: | Half-gallon milk carton, scissors, plaster of Paris, water, mixing stick or spoon, petroleum jelly, pencil. |

| Procedure: | Find a clear animal track and make a plaster cast of it by
following the directions in the illustration. When it is finished, on the bottom write the
date, location, and, if known, the kind of animal that made the track. It can be fun and informative to make a collection of track casts. |
| Options: | Drawing tracks is another way to keep track records; include measurements of the tracks themselves, as well as the distance between the prints. Photographing tracks is also effective. |
